Smart Tuning was founded in Auckland by Martin Polzleitner and Terrance Ethan with one mission: bring genuine, OEM-grade ECU tuning to New Zealand, without the guesswork or dodgy off-the-shelf files.
Our story
Martin cut his teeth calibrating rally cars in Central Europe before moving to Aotearoa in 2013. He met Terrance — then running a South Auckland heavy-diesel fleet — after remapping his Amarok on a rainy Saturday. The savings were so obvious Terrance walked away with a business plan: a nationwide, engineer-run tuning shop.
A decade later, Smart Tuning runs six full workshops, three Mainline hub dynos and a team of qualified engineers. We're backed by Smart Tuning's global tuning database, one of the world's largest verified tuning databases — over 100 brands and thousands of engine variants.
