Smart Tuning is a team of qualified engineers — not laptop jockeys. Every map that leaves our building is written and signed off by a named engineer with credentials to match.
Leadership
German-born motorsport engineer with 22 years in ECU calibration. Former factory tuner for a WRC privateer team, Martin founded Smart Tuning in 2020 to bring OEM-grade tuning to New Zealand.
Ex-heavy diesel fleet manager. Terrance built Smart Tuning's commercial and agricultural division from the ground up and personally oversees every fleet contract.
Engineering team
MotorSport NZ Cat 5 licence holder. Specialises in turbocharged petrol platforms (EA888, B58, K20, 4B11T).
MEng Mechanical. Ranger, Hilux, Amarok, Cummins and Duramax specialist. 6,000+ commercial diesel remaps.
10 years OEM diagnostics at Scania NZ. Leads our truck & bus mapping across the South Island.
Ex-Gough CAT technician. Cat, Komatsu, John Deere and Case IH specialist.
Runs our Mainline hub dyno. Owner of an obscene amount of pull-print folders.
Gearbox tuning lead — DSG, ZF 8HP, Aisin AWF8, JATCO. Also handles immobiliser and key programming.
Calibration engineer — Auckland
